first of all:

thanks a million for all your wonderful and heartfelt words and your support…. what a ride (and I haven’t even been in the car yet!). I had an amazing time on stage and when I was announced, I really did celebrate! What a cool day it was! So I was thinking how can you benefit from my win?

First of all … if I CAN DO IT – THEN YOU CAN DO IT!

Secondly: I wanted to share a marketing lesson that might come in handy. How did I get so many votes? I don’t know ALL the reasons, but I have recorded a video where I comment on the powerpoint I used and what I did in there to get connection with the people in the audience.

It’s all explained in there…. from opening loops and using metaphors to damaging admissions and using humor. I also create my own currency for the day – and I know it worked because people used it in their conversations….

I have to admit I don’t even know at this stage if I want to keep the car… it’s just so not me…. maybe I drive it for a day when the sun shines…. :-)

On a more personal note – this win seems like I have broken a spell or a curse or something. I never won a competition in my life since I was 9 years old and I have PROOF that I am deserving of silly cool things like shiny sports cars…. may this be this beginning of something big and adventurous.

There is also a weird thought pattern I witnessed. I thougt people (Dan B, Marcus who let me re-arrange my slot for Sunday, Rob who had to travel down on Saturday,…) didn’t want me to win and would make life difficult…. but they were all so amazing. I was surprised at the amount of good will I must have accumulated over the years…. :-)

Daniel needs your help – just one more time…

Hi Guys,

This is James here, fellow Internet Buddy of Daniel, and I’m going to let you in on a secret…

I’m going out on a limb here as Daniel doesn’t know I’ve written this post at all -  and frankly he might not even be that chuffed about it. :(

But what the heck, sometimes you’ve got to roll the dice and today I feel its my duty to let you know that Daniel, once again, needs your help. To those of you who came to support Daniel when he appeared on stage in front of 1000 people in London recently, let me tell you Daniel *really* appreciated your help.

Fortunately today’s assignment (should you be willing to accept…) is MUCH simpler :)

Daniel’s currently speaking RIGHT NOW in front of a group of coaches at Dan Bradbury’s Marketing Seminar in Heathrow. You see, he’s one of only THREE people who are competing for a coveted prize and title of ’2009 Marketer of the Year’ (from among Dan B’s group).

Whoever wins apparently gets to drive around in some fancy car, or something, for a year. However, anyone who knows Daniel understands that he could care less about flashy cars… :) What *is* important to him, just occasionally, is to get a bit of recognition that he has been able to help people improve their lives and their businesses.

Since I’ve known Daniel my own personal life has changed radically… and for the better. Not only have I found a real friend, but also an amazing business partner and together we’re looking forward to bringing more prosperity and work/life balance to as many people as possible over the next 12 months and beyond…

So, here’s the deal, I know that if Daniel doesn’t win this award he’ll feel like he’s failed to make the sort of difference that makes a real impact on people’s lives – and he’ll be really upset…

I know… and you know… how *great* an injustice that would be :(

The Black Spot Syndrom (…and that LITTLE voice that talked…)

2nd September, me talking to 1000 people in London – people loving it, people signing up, friends supporting me, my children being there for me, tears of joy and tears of laughter, stories of life and memories of sadness… and as the success and emotion moves my heart and warms my soul – there it is… the little nagging niggly voice…. there was one person that said you could have done one thing differently…. ????? and the self flagellation starts… :-(

maybe you have the same ‘problem’ – aah – challenge…. I call it the black-spot-syndrom. you have this whole canvas of pure white and there is a tiny black spot – and you obsess about it. you walk into a room with 1000 ceiling lights – and 1 is broken – and you can’t stop seeing it. you do a great job and get 99 things right – yet your ‘little voice’ keeps pointing out the ’1 thing that you could have done better’. thank you very much!

Sounds familiar? then you need little voice management like I do. It will not go away, but there are a few ways to efficiently learn to deal with it…. I have learned different techniques from different people – from Tony Robbins to Harv Eker to Blair Singer to my spirtual guru of my yoga days…. one thing they all say – you can’t fight it. you got to deal with it. Tony says ‘dance with your fear’, Harv says ‘thank you for sharing’ and Blair has written a whole book with simple strategies to deal with our little voice.

Don’t focus on it, forgive yourself, put it into perspective, talk to others about it, but under no circumstances – take it too seriously.

PS: When I was in the US a few weeks ago, we learned a great technique: ” ‘name of friend’, I love and respect you and don’t give a d**n what you think about me”

It’s important we don’t make our mood or actions dependent on what others think….

I finally found the REAL SECRET to the Secrets of Success (in Manchester?)

I was looking and searching all my life – with the uncomfortable notion that I am not enough and somewhere out there  is the missing ingredient to success. Finally – after almost 43 years – I have the answer. And it won’t come as a surprise that I found it in Manchester. The big events in life are always serendipitous (cool word: had to look up meaning and spelling and it means “lucky in making unexpected and fortunate discoveries”). So here it is. Two secrets and life long questions answered in one.

Well, you will have to watch the 1 minute video. In case you are wondering why I look the way I look? It was 7:40 in the morning and the sun was right in my eyes.

Why Practice does NOT make perfect (and other lies)

For someone who is not too keen on water it seems I am spending a whole lot of time on it… LOL. I went down to Bath to meet with James and Licia last weekend. I had my daughter with me and finally managed to meet up with Martin Roberts (of BBC fame) and his family. He asked me months ago to help him with the internet marketing of his website and courses and invited me to spend time on his barge in Bath…

We had a great time but I couldn’t help recording a ‘lesson of life’ video for you. :-)

This one is about lag time. You see (and that is something I learned from Jim Rohn) what you do in life has normally a delayed effect or lag time before you see the consequences. Needless to say if you improve e.g. your eating habits it will be sometime before you actually get the benefit. And of course the same is true the other way round. Strangely enough though in business people expect overnight results…

When I was steering the 65 foot barge the time of making the adjustment to actually the boat responding reminded of that…

Two more things came to mind… I didn’t know that you were driving on the right side of the river, not the left and everything in life and business is better when you know the rules. (you might choose not to play by them, but knowing them is a good thing most of the times). Lastly I realised when we came to a lock that most things in life and business require a team and that it is important to play and work together – even (and I am talking to the lone wolves out there – you know who you are!) if it just to be able to share the successes and have a little winge sometimes…

PS: By the way, before I forget – Practice makes PERMANENT, not PERFECT. If you got a bad teacher and practice the wrong move, you’ll never be perfect… ;-) so choose your teachers carefully ….

Why Rowing Is EXACTLY Like Your Life (And Business)

when I jumped into the rowing boat at Cliveden (beautiful National Trust property in Bucks) I realised that it was EXACTLY like life…. and how you do one thing is how you do anything. First of all I learned there is the ‘stroke’ and then the ‘recovery’. And they say that the best rowers spend more time in recovery and less ‘in the water’… another thing that is obvious is that using the oar is using leverage… (try using your hands instead and see how you go :-) . Next is that you actually have the back towards where you are going so you need a team or partner to look out for you…. and help you enjoy the journey ;-) .

How Being STUPID is not a problem (at least for me)…

it’s been a while. and a lot has changed. life moves at such a pace – it’s only 7 months ago I started MyInternetMarketingTutor.com! I have recorded a 6 minute video this morning with some insights about life, business and myself which is just right from the heart.

I am actually getting tired of some of what happens in my industry. so much hype and BS… I sometimes don’t even want to go on stage – but then I think if I don’t go on then there is no chance I can work with people and teach them and they will most likely buy someone else’s course who cares less and buggers off to somewhere far away after the event….

anyway. went to the gym this morning and learned a few lessons of life. Affirm the truth if you want to make progress. Success is subjective and then later on – being stupid is not a problem (as long as you are not being stupid all the time)…

A Realisation (took some life to work this one out…)

I teach. I teach internet marketing. And I learned a lot in the last 3 years. But I only realise now that people don’t care how much I know. They don’t. All they care about – and rightly so – is themselves and their dream. They want to make money, in most cases, and that quickly and without the pain.

Now I know after looking at many products, my own included, that we make it too hard for people to succeed. Not on purpose, but most people looking at internet marketing don’t want to learn all about internet marketing – they just want to make money.

I realise that trying to teach them product creation, conversion strategies and membership sites (just to name a few) is for 1-2% of people only… most want the results only…what to do?

People want to learn about IM, and so they should, but along side their job to learn their is sooo much to learn and it changes all the time.

What we need is a EARN as you LEARN model, where we teach the most important tasks first (Traffic!) and then focus on marketing. Then pay people high affiliate commissions (50%) on coninuity models of education so they get paid as they learn more. If they choose to, they can then apply the traffic and marketing skills to their niche or business and learn about product creation.

This is what I want to do. I am working on it right now. Make more people more money and make some along the way as well ;-)

Talking about comfort zone – STRETCH

I am writing this as a guy who started 3 years ago to form a dream about speaking on a stage…. I asked a friend if I coud have 10 minutes to speak to his networking club people… I did that a few times. In February 2006 Dwayne made a joking remark while I was doing my 10 minute talk… he said: “when is your one-day seminar gonna be?”.

I didn’t have a one day seminar… until then I suppose. I remember preparing for months. I remember being so worried about not having enough to say, enough to share, worried about not being enough.

that is how it all began. I remember interviewing Armand Morin and some other Internet Marketing greats in September 2007 in London. I went on the stage in the evening and I told myself. In 2 years I will be on stage with them!

The ‘secret’ – as they call it – is actually quite obvious. If you set an intention and work towards it – it will manifest. (I actually send an email to Rhonda telling her she should call it the ‘obvious’ but I suspect it wouldn’t have sold so many copies ;-)

so why am I telling you all this and why is this post called comfort zone stretch?

Because this September, just 2 years after interviewing some of the big guys… I will be on stage as one of the speakers with them… I am not scared, not a lot at least… they made 30 Million $$$, I made some as well…. ;-)

I can only be myself and there is always more to learn…. so until very soon…
