Last weekend I was one of the speakers at Mark Anastasi’s List Building Event. I don’t know why, but I tortured myself for literally weeks before the event, didn’t sleep properly, had bad stomach on the day…. and then it went really well.
Why is that? I asked myself. Why do I always get in such a ‘mind-frick’ before going on stage when I can be almost certain it’ll be ok? Here are my guesses. Fear of failure, fear of public humiliation, fear of embarrassment, fear of loss.
Not a nice list, I know. Talk about limiting beliefs! I have worked on my ‘inner game’ for years now and still these thinking patterns keep trying to stop me (and many times succeed!).
But like with all good tips and theory, sometimes when it comes to it, old habits die hard. And that includes – of course – thinking habits!
So how did it go then last weekend? Well – it was amazing! People loved it and I loved it too. We offered a proper coaching programme, as I believe that a weekend course – how ever well executed – is too much in too little time for most.
YourInternetBuddies is going well, we are about to launch the revamped members’ site and looking forward to seeing you at one of our events very soon.
I was looking and searching all my life – with the uncomfortable notion that I am not enough and somewhere out there is the missing ingredient to success. Finally – after almost 43 years – I have the answer. And it won’t come as a surprise that I found it in Manchester. The big events in life are always serendipitous (cool word: had to look up meaning and spelling and it means “lucky in making unexpected and fortunate discoveries”). So here it is. Two secrets and life long questions answered in one.
Well, you will have to watch the 1 minute video. In case you are wondering why I look the way I look? It was 7:40 in the morning and the sun was right in my eyes.
to your success
Daniel
PS: I am looking forward to meeting up very soon…. I have my birthday coming up in October and I am planning to invite all of you… I had a great idea while reading the millionaire code. I let you know soon so that you can make arrangements…
So, yesterday’s preview event with Alistair Cooper was a great success. He delivered an outstanding talk on the ’state of the property nation’ and revealed his strategies for 2008. (www.ThePlanningGame.com)
On a Internet Marketing and general marketing note though I wanted to share the significance of a preview event if your main product is a one or two day seminar or workshop.
From my own experience: make them pay to come. Even if it’s £15 or £20. It has many reasons:
1) you actually make money on the night after paying all your cost.
2) you avoid the freebie seekers. And most importantly
3) you get a committment from the attendees, however small. They have now spent money with you and they are in the funnel. You moved them from a prospect to a customer.
I have for some time now contemplated using a CMS (content management solution. (http://www.joomla.org/)) to manage my main website, http://www.secretshortcuts.com . I have finally made a start today by taking a three hour coaching session with Damien Senn. He has set up the basics for me and now it’s up to me to put the meat on the bone – or for pescetarians, the fish on the bone….
the idea is to have a website that looks professional to support my plans for the growing training business and is also easy to maintain and update. As my virtual and non virtual assistants are taking more and more of my workload and leaving me with the funload – I am looking at making the most of now, as the vodafone ad so aptly suggests. Playing to your strengths is a key component to my life now and I question almost every activity against the parameter of energy and fulfilment.
“if it ain’t fun, it ain’t good”…. there must be someone who loves the stuff I hate.
anyway, this message to the world – “hello world” – is to get me committed to get the website update done asap.
On my way to London meeting mighty Frank Garon, initiator of the London www.InternetSuccessBootcamp.co.uk. We had a good chat and have talked about running product creation workshops together in London in 2008. I have set my targets now for next year after sitting with the accountant for a few hours yesterday.
Workshop coming up tomorrow and I will, for the first time, offer a continuancy programme to the delegates and a product creation bootcamp in January 2008. I will post on update next week.
I have also bought an imac for Sidd http://www.apple.com/imac/ !! great machine… that’s how life should be… wrote a song and had heaps of fun.
It’s Sunday morning, just getting ready to take my son to football (did you see the rugby last night btw? – awesome!) and I just got a text from Shan that his laptop has given up… so I quickly wrote a broadcast message from aweber, where we manage our contacts of www.YourNetworkingClub.com and I was once again amazed how easy it is these days to stay in touch with people, business or personal.
I then sent another message to my whole list (aprt from the 25000 dog lovers of course!) and within 10 minutes over 7000 got an email and it didn’t even cost me a bean to do that.
If you don’t already use listbuilding as part of your business strategy, no matter what business (or hobby) you are in, I urge you to include it in your skill set.
Here come a plug, but you can learn it anywhere of course! I run a 1 day seminar and a 2 day workshop where you can master this stuff with the help of my team…. www.SecretShortcuts.com
one of my new favourite quotations. I met this guy from www.actioncoach.com Paul Avins. You should check his stuff out. He has consulted with some heavy weights and I think my small business will really benefit from his expertise.
