A Realisation (took some life to work this one out…)

I teach. I teach internet marketing. And I learned a lot in the last 3 years. But I only realise now that people don’t care how much I know. They don’t. All they care about – and rightly so – is themselves and their dream. They want to make money, in most cases, and that quickly and without the pain.

Now I know after looking at many products, my own included, that we make it too hard for people to succeed. Not on purpose, but most people looking at internet marketing don’t want to learn all about internet marketing – they just want to make money.

I realise that trying to teach them product creation, conversion strategies and membership sites (just to name a few) is for 1-2% of people only… most want the results only…what to do?

People want to learn about IM, and so they should, but along side their job to learn their is sooo much to learn and it changes all the time.

What we need is a EARN as you LEARN model, where we teach the most important tasks first (Traffic!) and then focus on marketing. Then pay people high affiliate commissions (50%) on coninuity models of education so they get paid as they learn more. If they choose to, they can then apply the traffic and marketing skills to their niche or business and learn about product creation.

This is what I want to do. I am working on it right now. Make more people more money and make some along the way as well ;-)

Talking about comfort zone – STRETCH

I am writing this as a guy who started 3 years ago to form a dream about speaking on a stage…. I asked a friend if I coud have 10 minutes to speak to his networking club people… I did that a few times. In February 2006 Dwayne made a joking remark while I was doing my 10 minute talk… he said: “when is your one-day seminar gonna be?”.

I didn’t have a one day seminar… until then I suppose. I remember preparing for months. I remember being so worried about not having enough to say, enough to share, worried about not being enough.

that is how it all began. I remember interviewing Armand Morin and some other Internet Marketing greats in September 2007 in London. I went on the stage in the evening and I told myself. In 2 years I will be on stage with them!

The ’secret’ – as they call it – is actually quite obvious. If you set an intention and work towards it – it will manifest. (I actually send an email to Rhonda telling her she should call it the ‘obvious’ but I suspect it wouldn’t have sold so many copies ;-)

so why am I telling you all this and why is this post called comfort zone stretch?

Because this September, just 2 years after interviewing some of the big guys… I will be on stage as one of the speakers with them… I am not scared, not a lot at least… they made 30 Million $$$, I made some as well…. ;-)

I can only be myself and there is always more to learn…. so until very soon…

Afraid of being all I can…

I don’t know if you can relate, and maybe it’s just me, but I had for so many years (39 and a half to be precise) a whole list of great ‘reasons’ (or excuses) why I couldn’t do well in life. being austrian (I still am of course, but I don’t see that as a reason anymore… thanks Arnie), being in a religious group, my relationships…and so on.

Now that they are gone I am faced with the freedom that means no more excuses… what am I to do? settle for what? any advice accepted

Daniel ;-)

1/3 done. Where are you?

1st April. Taking a day out to look at what I have done in the last 3 months… and more importantly – what I want to do in the next 90 days… I suppose the simple view is do more of what I loved, do less of what I didn’t like so much.

I did well: trainings, public speaking, setting up membership site, platinum group, increase recurring monies and big pay days, party for friends, new friends, work IN my business, JVs and strategic relationships

I didn’t do so well: outsourcing and delegation, balancing work/life, body and diet habits, look after my son and daughter, spend time away from work, maintain friendships, work ON my business

I have spend some time with business people who are further down the line than me and I try to learn as I bubble along… what is weird though that I hardly ever feel I achieved anything significant in the last two and a half years – because I focus on all the things I still want to do.

This is why I love doing events – that is a great place to get feedback for me. I can see people breaking through, I tell my story and it inspires people! I love it.

so back to ‘work’ – it’s the 1st April. What have you done in the last 90 days and where are you heading? Discuss.

to your success

the cat’s out of the bag, I suppose….

last Friday saw the launch of an exciting new venture… “YourInternetMarketingTutor.com, internet education for the rest of us…”. You can see what it is all about here: in essence great value education with some nifty ambassador programme that puts half the money back into your pockets…

These vouchers are actually printed and you can give them out, using word of mouth advertising. At the back it says that you have to go to the website to book your place on a training day.  I plan to teach as much as I can on the day and then offer my workshop or other products and services.

so far not new… what is cool though, that everyone referring a sale at £97 (which is £297 -£200 voucher!) will get 50% commission…. and a percentage of the backend sales on the day as well. you can find out more at http://www.YourInternetMarketingTutor.com/ambassador.html

We already sold over 40 tickets, so it looks like it’s working. :-)

Update soon…

What I did last weekend…

When I get introduced as a speaker, it normally includes the ‘and he is committed to life long learning’ phrase…. now I have to say, if ever education and self development was important, it is now! I spent the whole weekend immersed in positive energy, noone mentioned the ‘C’ word (credit crunch that is) and I came away with so many new strategies and implementation ideas I would need a twin to get them all done!

So where was I? At a Coaching Bootcamp. Strictly speaking I am not a coach, but as a trainer and public speaker I thought it was relevant enough. and it was. So let’s get to the meat of it. Speaker line-up:

Dan Bradbury: you got to hand it to the guy, just a bit older than my son, he is running multiple businesses and is a marketing dynamo. He spoke about the 5 biggest changes in the industry. Great title: I will put something together for Internet Marketing and Marketers… here is a nugget: “The economic climate has changed. If you are complaining – then what you are really saying is: I am not flexible!”

Topher Morrison: ( I am never sure if it’s two Rs or to Ss…). Known for his NLP and Hypnosis Courses, he spoke on Branding… very interesting indeed. here is a nugget: “all things being equal, the most visible competitor wins”

Andy Harrington: heard about him before, never seen him. He offered public speaking education. How to sell from the stage. Now I love that stuff! His ‘pitch’ at the end of the presentation was masterful! I really enjoyed it. Nuggets? “If you have a problem, then you don’t have a goal or purpose big enough to make it insignificant.”

Nick James: Copywriting. Now here is an interesting one. Words that sell. He has done some great work for people and he shared a lot of information. I won the headline competition with this headline: “How A Broke Drug Addict From Austria Became Financially Free In Just 35 Days Using The Internet Without A Product Or Skill And How You Can Do The Same”. That was cool. I won a price as well! :-) … Nugget: “Every great headline has 1. a big FAT claim (that you can back up), 2. creates curiosity and 3. includes the word YOU”.

and last but not least….

Jason Vale, the Juice Master. Now here is a guy who really squeezes his niche (I know ;-) ). ut instead of trying to sell us on health and juice, he told his business story, which is incredible. He plays the reluctant hero/fool, but this guy is very smart… anyway. loads of nuggets and a photo :-) first. (btw, easiest way to get photos in your blog is using google’s picasa and using the embed link)

Nuggets: “Think smart, there is always an easier way”. “In the Game of Life – there are NO rules”. “Life is too serious to be taken seriously.”

Looking forward to catching up with all of you soon. I am just doing my planning for 2009 and we got some great new events and opportunities lined up as well. Almost launch time, but still secret…

to your success

Daniel

the long awaited continuation programme

Folks,

in the true spirit of TIm Ferris, I am off again for a few days, enjoying mobility and lifestyle, the currency of the NR (new rich). If you don’t know what I am talking about, check out this blog.

I have spent some time now thinking of the best way to create the mastermind, mentoring, continued education (whatever you want to call it) model. One approach that I really like is the one my good friend (that is true, not just marketing speak) Richard Shepherd. His property education programme has an outline, where, on an ongoing basis, students/delegates/colleagues spend a day together improving their skills. We all know how the best ideas don’t amount to much (or even nothing) if you don’t spend time on them. I have taken a lot of his outline and tweaked it a bit. You can see the outline here.

I will be offering the programme for the first time to my students after the weekend workshop on the 11th and 12th May. I also met up with a great girl today who will help me to make this programme a success. I want to keep that a bit secret at the moment, but I am excited and I am sure you’ll all be pleased.

to your success and never forget what life is about….

Talking about a funnel – the free preview evening concept

While I was in the US, I realised that the bookings for the December and January workshops were very light. So I thought to myself: why don’t I ask some of my friends/Joint Venture partners to send an email to their lists and invite them to a free preview training, where I can offer my workshop at the end of the evening.

It took me about 3 hours to create the different websites, record audio, set up the autoresponders, book a room, PA system, video crew and arrange for the JV partners to mail their respective lists in the next couple of days. This is Thursday, 22nd November 9pm…. (http://www.secretshortcuts.com/evening/ForFriendsOfJavaid.htm)

The response was overwhelming – 256 optins on the first day. I was excited….

We had to get a bigger room and on Monday I decided to have some banners made (www.JustDigitalPrint.com) and also sent of 2 DVDs and 2 CDs to be replicated (www.AlphaDuplication.com). Anticipating many sales, I also had 100 homestudy courses printed and bound (http://www.topprintwindsor.com).

To get some more committment from the delegates I asked them to optin again at a confirmation page and asked them for some more details (phone numbers and names of friends). 126 confirmed their places.

Thursday the 29th November, just 7 days after the idea, we had a buzzing room with over 120 people (the room holds 100!) and we had an amazing time. I shared and trained using all the techniques and principles I learned and the energy was good.

The pitch didn’t go that well and I had a lot of feedback why that is. First of all those were people who sat in the room for free and I offered a £697 workshop. No warming up, no first step. That is a mistake. Don’t do that at home :-)

Secondly the timing to push for committment for next week (workshop 8th December!) is not good. I mean Xmas is coming and not many of us want to spend a grand on a one day workshop…

Upside: I learned loads, still made some money (we had 5 sales) and we have a great video from the night which will be a great DVD to send out to people interested in the workshop and to learn more about me. In short: the next one will be different. £20 to get in the room, they will get a training manual and CD to take home and I will offer a £97 or £147 product (homestudy or 1 day seminar, not workshop – where I can have more people in the room)

as Harv says: Every Master was once a disaster…. I am a work in progress.
