Why Rowing Is EXACTLY Like Your Life (And Business)
when I jumped into the rowing boat at Cliveden (beautiful National Trust property in Bucks) I realised that it was EXACTLY like life…. and how you do one thing is how you do anything. First of all I learned there is the ’stroke’ and then the ‘recovery’. And they say that the best rowers spend more time in recovery and less ‘in the water’… another thing that is obvious is that using the oar is using leverage… (try using your hands instead and see how you go
. Next is that you actually have the back towards where you are going so you need a team or partner to look out for you…. and help you enjoy the journey
.
Gorgeous day, enjoy the 2 and a bit minute long video. Please let me know your thoughts and comment below….
to your success

That is a beautiful part of the Thames, I know it well from living in Bray many years ago, and what a brilliant theme for the metaphor of life. You could expand that into a series as there are so many situations that arise on the river (as in life) from the tranquility of enjoying the moment drifting with the current through to the drama of capsizing….
See you Wednesday,

BTW there used to be a great hotel bar at Boulters Lock in Maidenhead!

Now if you had a canoe Daniel you could plan ahead where you were going. Plus it would bring even more balance to your life. But if it ever got out of balance hopefully there would be lots of friends on hand to save you LOL

Beautiful clip, Daniel! The main point I took from it was the need to think leverage. I’m just about to start a copywriting business through a course with Nick James that you put me on to (thank you!)I’ll be talking to Nick about leveraging the skills I learn from him as I broaden my range of business activities.

I loved the metaphor……….. I had a roommate in college. His father was the swimming and diving coach. One day after hard day of classes we decided to go swimming. To make a fat story thin –it took him about six strokes to swim the entire length…well myself well over 25 and he was considerable faster. I certainly resonate with your idea.

Hello Daniel… I’m loving these videos you’re posting. My favourite river of life saying is: “don’t push the river, it flows by itself” meaning(to me)that sometimes that there is a natural rythym to life and that it’s best to let it beat to the sound of its own drum rather than trying to recreate the flow yourself… very tiring and not much use at all, in fact, a complete waste of time and energy. So don’t push the river folks, it flows perfectly all by itself.
